Today was a great day to march for Women’s rights in Los Angeles. We had rain on Thursday, mostly grey sky yesterday, and forecast for tomorrow is even worse. Some municipalities are requesting residents in area susceptible to severe flooding to voluntarily evacuate ahead of Sunday’s storm. Today’s cast was for clear skies, and that was exactly what we saw this morning. The temperature reached 61 degrees Fahrenheit.
The turnout was much larger than the organizer planned for. 250K vs 80K. So the police had to let marchers stop traffic where they were planning to shutdown. One woman in a white explorer was honking, clapping and waving happily while she patiently wait for marchers pass by her. On another street people started dancing around a motorcyclist that was playing music off her motorcycle stereo system.
People came out because they are unhappy with the situation on the political stage. However, what I saw were happy faces and kind gestures. I have never seen that many people in one location in Los Angeles. I couldn’t help smile back as people march past me.
